To serve our community in the protection of life at sea
Mornington is a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia, located 57 km south-east of Melbourne's central business district. Mornington is situated on the eastern side of Port Phillip. 38° 13.41 S, 145° 03.43E
Hastings is also a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula, situated on Westernport. 38°18.27° S, 145° 11.25 E
When our rescue service was started in 1980, the Steering Committee was tasked with the job of investigating the best type of vessel and the best manufacturer in Australia. The Committtee reported back they would highly recommend the Shark Cat company, later to become Noosa Cat. Today VMR still boast 3 state of the art Noosa Cats. With over 34 years experience in marine rescue, VMR still believe Noosa Cat to be the best multi hull vessel available for the type of work we do. We have ordered a replacement for our vessel AK2 (see below), valued at around $250,000 which we should have in service shortly.
